Privacy Policy

Welcome to Flight Tracker. Flight Tracker helps you look up flight status, find airports worldwide, and check the weather at an airport. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

By using Flight Tracker, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information we collect

Data you provide

When you use the app, you provide:

  • Saved flights (flight numbers, airlines, airports)
  • Search history (flights and airports you search for)
  • Personal notes on saved flights
  • App settings (language, theme, notification preferences)

Important: this data is stored only on your device. We do not send it to our servers — we do not run an account system and we have no copy of your saved flights or search history.

Data collected automatically

Location (only when you use location features):

  • Your location, to find nearby flights and airports
  • Shared only with our flight data provider so it can return relevant results

Device information:

  • Device type and Android version
  • App version and device language
  • Used for app functionality and crash reporting

Country recognition (for a better default experience):

  • Device locale settings (language and region)
  • Mobile network operator country code, if available
  • Used to put airports from your region first and to centre the map on your area
  • You can override this in Settings → Country/Region

Country recognition does not require location permission. It reads only your device language settings and network country code.

Usage information:

  • Which features you use (collected by default)
  • Crash reports, so we can fix bugs
  • Aggregated, non-identifying analytics used to improve the app

2. How we use your information

To provide the service:

  • Display flight information and status
  • Show airport information on maps
  • Show the current conditions and forecast for an airport's location
  • Find flights and airports near you
  • Put airports from your region first and centre maps on your area
  • Save your favourite flights
  • Send notifications about flight status changes, if you enable them

To improve the app:

  • Fix crashes and bugs
  • Understand which features are used most
  • Test new features

We do NOT:

  • Sell your personal information
  • Share your data with advertisers without your consent
  • Use your data for any purpose other than those described here

3. Third-party services we use

Flight Tracker relies on the services below. Each one is named with what it receives and why. We do not use any third party not listed here.

Aviation Edge — flight and airport data

  • What they receive: flight searches, airport searches, and your location when you ask for nearby results
  • Why: Aviation Edge is the third-party flight data API behind every schedule, status, gate, terminal, and baggage field in the app, and behind the 4,000+ airports in our airport directory
  • Privacy policy: aviation-edge.com/privacy-policy

Open-Meteo — airport weather

  • What they receive: the coordinates of the airport you are looking at. No device identifier and no account information are sent
  • Why: to show current conditions and a short forecast for that location. This is general weather forecast data, not an official aviation weather product
  • Privacy policy: open-meteo.com/en/terms

Google Maps

  • What they receive: map tile requests and, when you view a map, location data
  • Why: to draw airport locations and flight routes on a map
  • Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

Firebase Analytics

  • What they receive: non-identifying app usage events — which screens you open and which buttons you tap — plus device model, Android version, app version, and coarse country
  • Why: to understand which features are used and where people get stuck
  • Your control: analytics can be turned off in the app's Settings

Firebase Crashlytics

  • What they receive: crash and error reports, including a stack trace, device model, Android version, and app version
  • Why: to diagnose and fix crashes

Firebase Remote Config and Firebase Cloud Messaging

  • What they receive: an app instance identifier, so the app can fetch its configuration and receive push notifications
  • Why: Remote Config delivers app settings without an update; Cloud Messaging delivers notifications. Notifications can be turned off in your device settings

Google AdMob — advertising

  • What they receive: your advertising ID and device information, subject to the consent choice you make
  • Why: to show ads in the free version of the app
  • Your control: decline personalised ads in the consent form, reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings, or subscribe to remove ads
  • Ad partners: the full list of Google ad technology providers

Google User Messaging Platform — consent

  • What they receive: your consent choices and the coarse region used to decide which consent form applies
  • Why: to collect and store GDPR and other regional consent for advertising before any ad request is made. You can reopen the form from the app's Settings and change your answer at any time

Google Play services and Google Play Billing

  • What they receive: your Google account and purchase details, handled entirely by Google when you subscribe
  • Why: to process and validate the optional subscription. We never see or store your card number or any other payment credential

Google's privacy policy covers Maps, Firebase, AdMob, the User Messaging Platform, and Play Billing: policies.google.com/privacy. Firebase adds its own notice at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

  • Request a copy of your data by contacting us

For EU and UK users (GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or export your data, and to withdraw consent at any time.

For California users (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what we collect and to request deletion. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond the AdMob consent described above.

5. Data storage and security

Where your data is stored

  • Most data: stored locally on your device only
  • Flight and airport data: fetched from Aviation Edge
  • Weather data: fetched from Open-Meteo
  • Analytics and crash reports: sent to Firebase

How we protect your data

  • All network transfers use encrypted HTTPS connections
  • We do not store passwords or payment information
  • Analytics events are non-identifying and can be disabled
  • Local data is protected by Android's app sandbox

Data retention

  • On your device: until you delete it or uninstall the app
  • Analytics: deleted automatically after 14 months
  • Crash logs: deleted automatically after 90 days

6. Children's privacy

Flight Tracker is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us at info@apperssystems.com and we will delete it.

7. International users

Appers Systems operates from Pakistan, and the services listed in section 3 process data in other countries. Your data may therefore be processed outside your own country. By using Flight Tracker, you consent to this transfer. We use only providers that commit to appropriate data protection standards.

8. This website

This section covers flighttracker.apperssystems.com, the website you are reading now — not the app.

The site uses Google Analytics to measure traffic. Google Analytics collects:

  • Which pages you view, and in what order
  • Your approximate region, derived from your IP address
  • Device and browser type
  • The referring site or search engine that sent you here

To do this it sets cookies in your browser. We enable IP anonymisation, so your full IP address is not stored or made available to us. We see aggregate counts and trends, never an identifiable visitor.

Website analytics is not linked to any data from the app — the two are never joined, and we cannot connect a visit to this site with anything you do in Flight Tracker. Website analytics is not used for advertising: there are no ads, no ad pixels, and no remarketing tags on this site.

This site has no accounts, no login, no contact forms, and no newsletter. We do not ask for your name or email anywhere on it. If you email us, we hold that message only for as long as it takes to answer you.

To opt out of website analytics:

  • Block or clear cookies for this site in your browser settings, or
  • Install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which stops Google Analytics on every site you visit

Blocking analytics has no effect on how this site works — every page is static and needs no JavaScript to read.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do:

  • We update the effective date at the top of this page
  • We notify you in the app if the change is significant
  • Continued use of the app means you accept the updated policy

10. Contact us

If you have questions, or want to exercise any of the rights above:

We answer every privacy request within 30 days.
